SMEAR ATTACK AGAINST ROB AGER AND UKIP BY SIMON BOYLE OF MERCURY PRESS AND GUY PATRICK OF THE SUN

In April 2010 Guy Patrick of The Sun newspaper and Simon Boyle of Mercury Press launched a malicious smear attack article against me, which consisted of a short article in The Sun and a long article at the news website ClickLiverpool.com. Each of these articles contained deliberately falsified information. The Sun article was removed from their website shortly after I registered a complaint with the Press Complaints Commission and have not, to my knowledge, republished it. In 2013 I wrote a complaint to Chris Johnson, editor and owner of Mercury Press, regarding the defamatory article about me on the Click Liverpool website. In response Mr Johnson has removed the article and published at the following link corrections and an undertaking that his company will not repeat any such allegations against me. Note that although the article attempts to shift blame to another, unnamed company, this was merely a technicality. Mercury Press was closed down and restarted under a slightly different name, but Chris Johnson was the owner in both cases - he personally was in charge of Mercury Press at the time it ran it's malicious attack on me.

Update: within one week of my publication of the video account below the entire Click Liverpool website became
inaccessible online and the above URL disappeared from their site shortly after.
An archived copy of the published corrections can be viewed here.
I have also retained copies of the correspondence between Mr Johnson and I, should the authenticity of the archived document be questioned.

The video presentation below contains a more detailed account of this particular smear attack and its importance in promoting public awareness of politically motivated propaganda techniques.
